Your garden doesn’t have to be cold, dark and colourless this winter. Here are a few things we consider when creating a garden design fit for all seasons!
Our priority is to create grounds that look beautiful throughout every season. By gathering information from your ideas and aesthetic, we will produce a 3D CAD of your new garden, which is made to scale, after our site visit with you.
Whether you are looking for better access, a renovation within a budget or a regularly maintained garden with an annual planting scheme. Blue Iris Landscapes’ design team will take this into consideration while designing your new garden.
Garden Design Fit For All Seasons – Case study:
Winter
This garden has been designed with all four seasons in mind, focusing on winter. The climate within the UK can be temperamental, therefore, carefully choosing plants that can withstand both extremes is crucial to the design. Using our 20+ years of horticultural experience, and expert design knowledge, we can create interesting and realistic planting schemes for your soil, garden shade and overall area of land.
Evergreens, flowering shrubs and structured pathways can create that attractive flair which is typically associated with summer gardens. Playing with the colours of plants, textures and height compositions to create full looking flowerbeds that adapt throughout the seasons.

The conceptual pergola in the back left-hand corner has a glass roof and curtains made from polyester – finished with a waterproof/fireproof coating. These curtains can be removed and adapted to the user’s choice. Ideal for a cosy evening by the fire, also, creating a safe area to relax and observe the pond.
Within this CAD design, the pond can be viewed from all areas of the garden. This creates a focal point with a therapeutic flowing water sound that can be enjoyed all year round. Including, attracting wildlife to your garden. This is always a positive attribute to any UK home.
Planting shrubs, bulbs and perennials will ensure that your garden will survive during the winter months. Gravelling most of the lawn and artificial grass will reduce weeds and completely eradicate the need for mowing during the growing season. Ideal for many users’ lifestyles and abilities.
Lighting enhances visibility in low light and increases safety when moving around the garden, especially during the winter months. Not only this, lighting can also be used as a decorative interest as candles and spotlights can create a calm, warm and safe feeling ambience.
