Amazing Autumn Flowers

Before we know it, we will be pulling out all of our knitwear and jumpers from the back of our wardrobes due to the colder seasons approaching. As the summer fades away, so does a selection of the flowers in our gardens. This is why we have put together a list of amazing autumn flowers that can keep your land looking colourful throughout the fall.

Our Top 3 Autumn Flowers:

Rudbeckia

Blooming in shades of orange, yellow, red, and bronze; rudbeckias are the perfect autumn flowers to add a splash of colour to your garden whilst also remaining in line with an autumnal colour scheme.  These perennials are relatively low maintenance, growing well in most soils and typically flower all the way through until late October.

Kniphofia

Sometimes nicknamed as a Red-Hot Poker, these hardy autumn flowers are an excellent addition to your garden, whether it’s for a perennial boarder or even water edges. Knipofias get their red-hot poker nickname due to their shape and exotic, flashy colours. Typically flowering from March until November, these spikey bloomers have no reason to not make our autumn flower list.

Autumn crocus

As the name suggests, this flower in prevalent in the Autumn time, frequently flowering in September and October. The petals come in a vivid purple hue but tend to appear without any leaf formation. Autumn crocuses grow double flowers which can be compared to the characteristics of the water lily. This is why in some areas this species may be more commonly known as the ‘colchicum waterlily’.
