Bring your style to your garden.

To some people, a garden is just a garden – there is no personality added to it. However, why not make more of your garden this year? Reflect your characteristics and bring your garden to life, perhaps with one of these styles:

Cottage Style

This style of garden is all about being easy and pretty. To achieve the look, you will need lots of bright and colourful flowers, perhaps somewhere to sit and maybe a tree or two! The best thing about cottage style gardens is that there are no rules to follow; simply plant what you want and love, it can even be mis-matched to look like what ‘nature intended’.

Some favourite flowers to include in a cottage style garden are Geraniums, Roses, and Peonies.

Modern/ Contemporary

Unlike the cottage style, modern gardens have structure and are usually kept simple. Contemporary gardens tend to incorporate geometric shapes such as squares, diamonds, and rectangles. Once the structure is complete, personalisation such as incorporating fire pits, candles and modern furniture is important to keep the garden sleek.

It is key to not have too much going on. For example, keep a colour scheme in mind with only one or two colours – too much can ruin the affect you are going for.

Japanese Gardens

For this type of outdoor space, its crucial to incorporate plants, water, and rocks to capture an essence of a natural landscape. Water features such as ponds and waterfalls are very important for this style of garden as well as attributes such as winding stone paths and bridges.

In terms of plants, the Bonsai Tree, Ferns, and Moss are great to include portray the Japanese style.
