Turning Kitchen Waste into Compost
One easy way to turn kitchen waste into compost is a wormer. These are made of plastic, wood or metal and vary in shape and size. In summer they can be kept outside, and in winter they prefer a more sheltered area or even to be bought indoors.
If you have a compost bin, you can keep a small caddy in the kitchen for waste food. Keeping a balance is necessary though. For instance, the microbes need enough oxygen and water for the decomposition to take place. Substances such as vegetable peelings, grass clippings, chopped pruning and shredded paper. These are all included in the much-needed balance.
