Landscaping can really transform a garden and for this customer in Newcastle-under-Lyme, we designed and constructed a modern landscaping design – taking it from a derelict and inaccessible garden to a modern and sleek garden for our client to enjoy all summer.

Modern Landscaping in Newcastle-under-Lyme

As you can see from the images the garden was a work in progress, with sections of the work that had already been started. The client had already brought some materials to continue the landscaping. However, for various reasons they had been unable to complete the landscaping. The client had specific requirements for the design of the garden to be modern landscaping, making it accessible, aesthetically pleasing and creating several seating areas.

Initially, a site visit was completed with the client to outline their requirements and measure the garden. From this point, our qualified team was able to compile a detailed quotation and produce a 3D CAD design. This gave the client an excellent idea of how their landscaping would be completed and the costs involved. The CAD drawing gave the client a visual representation of how the garden would look when the modern landscaping had been completed.

Landscaping Commences

To ensure we achieved the modern style that the customer was looking for, we used a variety of materials that provided a sleek and modern style. Firstly, for the patio areas, we used Kandla Grey Honed flags. These are a lovely natural paving slab which has a smooth finish, giving a modern appearance. We not only used these flags for the patio areas, but we also used them for the steppingstones through the garden and to clad the retaining wall. This gave a lovely consistent feel to the garden. The smooth grey flags resulted in the modern look that the client required.

Following this, within one of the terraced areas we also created a bench that was set into the new retaining wall. As you can see from the photo, the bench was curved and made from beautiful oak timber. This is eye-catching and is extremely stylish for this modern landscaping style.

To add features to the garden we created several shapes with undulating sides, a new border, turfed area, and gravel area. We created a steppingstone path that leads from the steps through to the seating area at the top of the garden. These stylish flags were set into a lovely white pebbled area and were overlapped with new turf to give a complete finish to the garden. The contrast between the block colours and various undulating edges created a lovely sleek and modern style.

The result of this modern landscaping was smooth, sophisticated and clean. As you can see from the image, the transformation was amazing. With fantastic seating areas and a lovely modern feel to the garden, it was the perfect area for our client to relax in after a long week.
